Members of the Tennessee Army National Guard visited Smyrna Elementary School for a fifth-grade STEM event Wednesday morning.

Students learned about careers available with the Guard, how chemistry is used to determine the makeup of unknown substances and toured a military vehicle used to transport people and supplies.

In 2022, Smyrna Elementary was named Rutherford County School’s first STEM-designated school by the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network and the Tennessee Department of Education.
