About Mrs. Bertels

Greetings Parents, Guardians and Students,

​My name is Trisha Bertels and I would like to welcome you and your child to our ESL class here at Smyrna Elementary. I am so excited to be working with your child on their Reading, Writing Listening and speaking in ESL (English as a Seond Language) class. I am looking forward to an exciting year filled with hands-on, creative learning experiences.

 A little about myself. I have my Bachelors and Masters degrees in education along with an English Language Learners (ESL) endorsement through courses from Vanderbilt University. My passion for learning then grew into a passion for teaching. I have previously taught first, second, fifth and Kindergarten grades. You may have recognized me as a kindergarten teacher here at SES but I could not be more excited to be teaching ESL. I am from Pennsylvania but have lived here in the Nashville area for eight years. I love to travel and am looking forward to traveling more once my daughters get a bit older. My husband and I are enjoying watching our daughters Raelyn and Rayna grow and learn new things everyday. We enjoy going to the zoo, kayaking, and listening to music while we dance and act silly.
