Response to Intervention (RTI)

K-5 Math and Reading Response to Intervention Plan

What is RTI?

RTI is an instructional delivery system that uses a data-driven, problem-solving model to identify specific student needs and matches the appropriate instructional strategies.  In Rutherford County, RTI is part of our general education instruction program, and all students have access to appropriate interventions. Smyrna Elementary students will be assessed, and this assessment will give us a methodical way of identifying students that have skill deficits.  This screener will be administered three times per year.  Parents will be contacted when initiating or discontinuing interventions.

Tier I – Regular Classroom Instruction

Tier II – Strategic Intervention

Tier III –Intensive Intervention

** If your child is moved to Tier II or Tier III intervention, a letter will notify you. You will receive a progress monitoring report every 4.5 weeks.
